Tell us what you want to do with your basement and which town you're in. We'll call to set up a free on-site quote.

A basement finished decades ago often has paneling, a drop ceiling, worn carpet, and a layout that doesn't fit how you live now. Remodeling it can mean anything from new flooring and lighting to moving walls and adding a bedroom or bathroom. Opening up old walls is also when hidden problems show up, like moisture, old wiring, or missing insulation. We price what we can see at the quote, and if the walls show us more, you get it in writing before the plan changes.

What's included

  • On-site look and a written quote
  • Demolition and haul-off
  • A check for moisture, mold, and old wiring once the walls are open
  • Wall changes and new framing
  • Electrical and lighting updates
  • Drywall, ceiling, paint, and flooring
  • Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms brought up to code when the permit calls for it

The process

  1. Look and quote. We walk the space, talk through what you want changed, and give you a written quote.
  2. Permit and demo. We apply for any permit the work needs, then tear out what's coming out.
  3. Rework. New framing, wiring, and any plumbing go in. If there's a permit, the inspector checks the work before drywall.
  4. Close up and finish. Drywall, ceiling, paint, flooring, and trim.
  5. Final. Cleanup, and the final inspection if there's a permit.

What affects the price

  • How much comes out. A cosmetic refresh costs far less than a full gut.
  • What's behind the walls. Moisture, mold, or old wiring adds work.
  • Layout changes. Moving walls, doors, or stairs adds framing and often wiring.
  • New rooms. A bedroom needs an egress window. A bathroom needs drains.
  • Finishes. Flooring, ceiling, and lighting choices.

Questions homeowners ask

Can you update the basement without tearing everything out?
Yes. New paint, flooring, ceiling, and lighting cost much less than moving walls. Permits depend on scope. Harrisburg, for example, says painting and flooring don't need a building permit, but changes to a structure's bearing members or area do. We tell you at the quote whether your plan needs one.
What if you find water damage or mold behind the old walls?
We stop, show you what we found, and give you a written price for the fix before we go on. Covering it back up just moves the problem behind new drywall.
Can I turn a rec room into a bedroom?
Usually, if the room can get an egress window. Under the model building code most cities start from, a new bedroom in an existing basement needs an emergency escape window. We check the wall, the yard outside it, and your city's rules at the quote.
How long will the basement be torn up?
It depends on how much changes. A paint, flooring, and lighting update moves faster than a remodel with permits, because inspections set part of the pace. You get a schedule with the quote.
